Insights & Bible Stories Related to Each of the Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments were originally about a covenant of love for Israel (Neh. 1:5) and it governed their relationships (see purpose section).

When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He answered by stating that all the laws are rooted in two:

  1. Love the Lord with all your heart
  2. Love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40).

We were created for relationship with God and one another. The Ten Commandments are divided accordingly.

This section provides insight into each of the Ten Commandments and a Bible story to illustrate each. The following information is not exhaustive, nor does in necessarily address the specific meaning of the Ten Commandments in our present age (new covenant).
